Spring Cleaning 101: DIY Guide to Green Cleaning

3082913552_75ccf2dfc1_zWhen life gives your lemon, slave money by making your own cleaning products! DIY cleaning supplies have gained popularity recently as awareness continues to grow of the harsh, toxic chemicals found in store-bought products. Really, what's the point of cleaning if you're just making your home unhealthy? Not only are homemade supplies better for you, your pets and the environment, they can also save you quite a bit of money as many only require a few household ingredients.

What You'll Need:

Baking Soda

Baking Soda has endless uses, you can use it for anything from teeth whitening to deodorizing. Baking soda acts as an abrasive cleaner to dissolve dirt and eliminate grease.

White Distilled Vinegar

Vinegar acts as a disinfectant as well as a deodorizer. It's acidity helps it break down dirt and even fight mold.

Lemons

Lemons are perfect for adding a fresh scent and/or removing stains. Instead of reaching for your tide-to-go pen next time you eat spaghetti try soaking a stain in lemon juice to remove your next stain.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is amazing for removing odours as well as fighting against mold and mildew.

You can make your own cleaning products by combining any of the above accordingly. Here are some other helpful, DIY tricks for around the house:
