Adventures of a Trike Trekker-Estrella Mountain Ranch Lake

You may remember Lynne from this previous post.
She will be sharing her adventures in a new blog for Four Green Steps!
This morning Dennis put the trike on the tow and off we went up to Estrella Mountains in Goodyear. He hiked and I rode around the lakes. At first I thought there was just one, but we actually found a second, so that there is a north and a south lake, as they're called. It is the coolest place! Shall we retire up there? In this first photo (left), if we zoom in, you can see the Catepillar drive in Verrado up the White Tank Mtns. in the background. I did just that for you in the next photo! I can't believe you can see it from way up there! While it's only 16 miles away, it's way up the mountain and you're looking across the entire valley. That's the White Tanks in the background and Verrado is at the base of it.

Above is the zoom and close-up of the first photo.
Below, Verrado, just a mile in from I-10, is A and Estrella is B.
You can see the blue lakeson this map:

Quite a few times a minute you can see fish jumping right out of the water -- getting insects, I guess. Lots of fowl around, too. Below must be the south lake. It appears to flow into the north when full. Dennis is uphill here waving and I'm glad, again, I have six gears on my trike to work with.

It was nice for a change for me and my trike to extend our horizons! Before we left I made us (me and Dennis, not the trike - come on, now!) a take-out breakfast (eggs, fruit, with coffee and juice), and I enjoyed the peaceful time with Dennis; it was well worth the outing this early Saturday morning! Now we're home. Dennis just got out of the pool, having the need to cool off, and we're both getting back to work on transcripts.
