Adventures of a Trike Trekker-The Human Sundial

human sun dial tempoA 15-minute right south past the new fire house and then west lead me to find this new park - Tempo Park.  This is looking north.  It looks like a miniature Verrado Stonehenge!  The numbers of the week/month are on the raised and short columns, the name of the months are carved into the sidewalk, and a carved circle with writing in front of it all (you can see it in the 1st photo) tells you where to stand so the sun reflects your shadow on the numbers on the short columns to tell the time, the day, and the month.

The clouds are forming for possible rain tomorrow - yeah, right! - it being monsoon season.  Ohhh, for the monsoons of Tucson!  On Monday we had actually a whole minute of huge drops of rain.  That was it.  Still better than the dust storms that follow when the predicted rain doesn't hit, as we had a week ago again.  The photo of the tables with the sun canvasses over top is facing south and because of the heat/haze and clouds, you can't see the southern mountains today.  This was only a 30-minute trek -- it was too hot, too humid, and this was all downhill one way, so coming back was bad news - 1st gear all the way and I really needed 0 gear!  This must be "ghost writing" (pun intended) because I don't think I made it back.

You may remember Lynne from this previous post.

She will be sharing her adventures in a new blog for Four Green Steps!
