green new years resolutionsHave you thought about your new year’s resolutions yet? Let me guess, you want to go to the gym more, lose ten pounds, find more time for your friends and family, get organized, quit drinking/smoking, or pay off some debt? These are all very good resolutions but how many times have you made the same ones and how many times did they stick? Why not try something a little new this year- something a little less predictable, but something a little more productive. Here are twelve easy, green New Year’s resolutions that everyone should try…and really, they are a lot easier than you think!

1. Walk, or ride a bike more and consider public transportation as much as possible to cut down on using your car.

2. Stop buying water bottles

3. Recycle more

4. Cut down on eating so much meat -try Meatless Mondays

5. Save energy and money by making your house more efficient. Google it, you can protect your house from heat-loss with simple DIY projects, or change your light bulbs to energy saving CFL lighting among many other things.

6. Use reusable bags

7. Plant your own vegetable garden

8. Reduce waste in every way possible. Try to limit yourself to less garbage bags a week by making smaller quantities of food, or reusing things that you would usually throw away.

9. Instead of buying new books all the time, go to your local library or even try to find them online

10. Buy things second hand – you would be surprised what your local ‘vintage’ or second hand stores have.

11. Learn new easy recipes that will help you save money, eat healthier, and cut down on eating out.

12. Buy more environmentally-friendly products whenever you need them! Check out our marketplace for everything green you could ever need.
