It seems everywhere you look someone is criticizing President Obama. Whether it be the Left and the Right’s unanimous disappointment with last week’s national address, FOX News’ constant criticism (regardless of what the President actually says or does), or most recently, top military commander McChrystal’s harsh words in Rolling Stone magazine. It appears as though the President can’t catch a break, and as a result, McChrystal might be the one to feel the short end of the stick.
In the Rolling Stone article ‘The Runaway General’ set to hit newsstands Friday June 25th, General McChrystal makes his less than flattering views of the President known to the world. With suggestions of Obama’s initial discomfort and intimidation around military heavyweights in his first week in office, McChrystal spoke candidly and now regretfully to Rolling Stone contributor Michael Hastings. What’s that infamous Julia Roberts line from Pretty Woman again? Oh yeah, “Big Mistake. Big. Huge.”
Early this morning General McChrystal met with the President in a meeting lasting only 30 minutes long. Now, with the meeting on the war in Afghanistan under way, and McChrystal's presence notably absent, news outlets are speculating as to whether or not the General will keep his job. Granted, openly criticizing the current administration in a popular mainstream magazine displays poor judgment and a lack of respect; however, I wonder if the situation would be different if Obama’s speech last week hadn’t been an epic fail. You know, the one where he said absolutely nothing about the oil spill for approximately 17 minutes.
My prediction? Obama’s leadership skills have come under fire lately with an apparent lack of them in the oil disaster in the gulf. Now, McChrystal, utilizing a completely unprofessional platform, is taking jabs at the President’s leadership, further damaging his currently shaky public image. Cue opportunistic political maneuver—McChrystal’s getting the boot.
Now let’s get the typical alpha male assertion of dominance out of the way (McChrystal’s firing) and get back to worrying about the things that matter. Like you know, stopping the about 100,000 barrels of oil spilling into the gulf a day. Clocks a tickin’.
Until next time,
Not-so-same time,
same green station,

Update: He's outta there!! Way to remind everyone who's commander in chief big guy! (Yes I just referred to the President as 'big guy.')
McChrystal will be replaced by General Petraeus.
