Stephen Colbert

I watch The Colbert Report on a nightly basis. Not only do I go to bed laughing every night but I am also informed (with truthiness that is). For those of you who don’t know who Stephen Colbert is, he is a political satirist playing a self-obsessed right-wing news reporter a la Bill O’Reilly. Last night’s episode made up for the reruns I had to watch last week. If starting his show by popping up from under his desk wasn’t enough, his commentary on the environment nearly killed me. With Copenhagen fast approaching, climate change is a topic on everyone’s mind, including Colbert’s.

Here are two of my favourite quotes from last night's episode pertaining to the environment:

While discussing Al Gore’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ with a guest, and how it’s box office success contributed to the widespread accepted validity of global warming, Colbert states:

“That is why I now believe global warming is caused by teenage vampires.”

So good.

And,

While discussing Obama’s presence at next week’s climate change conference, Colbert refers to the president's trip to Copenhagen for the Olympic bid and asks,

“Is there any chance when he goes to Copenhagen that he will lose the environment to Brazil?”

Too funny not to pass on.

You can catch The Colbert Report Mondays-Thursdays at 1130pm/1030 central on Comedy Central (and on CTV for us Canadians).

Until next time,

Same green time, same green station.

Brittany
