green tip desfrosting your food image of freezerThere’s always the debate on the best way to defrost frozen food. Some leave it out, others refrigerate it and some prefer microwaving the container. The most eco friendly way to defrost food is in the refrigerator. The cold container helps keep the fridge cool; hence less energy is required to keep the fridge cold.  The microwave is not energy efficient and hence not the obvious choice. As for keeping food outside to defrost, most people leave it for too long, allowing bacteria to breed on it. Thus word to the wise,  always defrost your food in the fridge! It’s healthy and green!
