mobile_solar_powerI am a movie lover.  And I try to be as green as possible in my movie consumption without abstaining from movies altogether.  I do not make a habit out of buying DVDs; instead, I borrow them from the library and only buy used versions of “must have” DVDs.  (Field of Dreams, anyone?)

But while consuming (or, in other words, watching) a movie may not have the obviously negative environmental impact as consuming (or, in other words, eating) a hamburger does, the impact of production and marketing our favorite movies still exists.  However, signs indicate that large-scale film producers are slowly greening their processes.

According to the makers of Mobile Solar Power Systems, the new Leonardo DiCaprio film called Inception and an untitled Steve Carell film that is currently in production have been powered (at least in part) by solar energy.  Perhaps the days of carbon neutral movies are not far away!
