Sun-facing building facades will sure go more stylish with “Piksol” – a solar cell pixel that makes creating arbitrary patterns and images perfectly possible. Drzach & Suchy suggest to combine several Piksols in a preferential arrangement to formulate a visually appealing design that also can serve as a medium of collecting solar energy.
A shadow casting panel prototype shows how Piksols will transform a façade into a visual delight. Piksols offer a uniquely perceptible pattern, which skillfully hides the constituent solar cells. Depending upon the sun illumination, the onlookers could see different images in the morning and evening.
