It is unfortunate that air travel is currently the most practical means for international travel considering how polluting aircrafts are. Airplanes emit CO2, water vapor, and other greenhouse gases directly into the troposphere and the stratosphere, causing their emissions to be even more potent contributors to global warming caused by the greenhouse effect.

Located in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and flanked by spectacular coral reefs, the submarine is owned by the NOAA and operated by the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

However, satellites do provide invaluable information that could only be vaguely estimated from the ground. Katie Gibbs had no idea that her conversation with fellow grad students at a bar would turn into a 5,000 people rally on Parliament Hill.
Making headlines across the country, the Death of Evidence rally, co-organized by Gibbs and Dr. Scott Findlay, brought together scientists and non-scientists for a funeral procession from Ottawa’s Convention Centre to Parliament Hill to commemorate “the untimely death of evidence.” Speakers delivered eulogies and participants paid their respects to a black coffin filled with scientific books and equipment.
