The Canadians are all set to win the hearts of 70 million visitors expected at the Shanghai Expo 2010. SNC-lavalin inc., a Canadian engineering and construction company, has built the Canada Pavilion keeping enviornmental protection in mind. Located on the Pudong side of the Huangpu River, the 6,000-square-meter pavilion has been conceptualized by Cirque Du Soleil. One of the biggest at the site, this pavilion will feature an exhibition themed “the living city: inclusive, sustainable, creative.”
The designer also plans to create public performances, organize cultural programs and develop strategic corporate alliances for the Canada pavilion. A special kind of greenery will cover a portion of the exterior walls, while a drainage system will collect rainwater that will be used inside the pavilion. This extraordinary amalgamation of sustainability and aesthetics is sure to stand out at the Expo.
