Get involved in some very green Christmas spirit this year by attending one of these amazing events.
Green Christmas Biosphere Environment Museum “To celebrate the holiday season and inspire you to create a greener Christmas, the Biosphere is presenting its sixth annual Green Christmas activities from November 19 to December 23, 2011. Amid a festive decor featuring recovered objects and materials, the Biosphere has planned a series of activities aimed at promoting more responsible consumption during a holiday known for its excessive consumerism.”
November 19-20 & 26-27 as well as December 10-11 & 17-18 “The parties, the gifts, the decorations... it’s holiday time and consumers are encouraged to go all out. Every year it seems as though anything goes when it comes to enticing buyers. And if the steady sales are any indication, these tactics work. For many, this frenetic need to spend money also comes with stress and debt. It has to be said, an increasing number of people find it isn’t much fun anymore. Is the simplicity that once accompanied traditional gift-giving now relegated to the past? And yet, Christmas as a symbol of consumption is still quite recent in our history. Behind the Christmas Tree takes an unfettered look at the over-consumption that comes with our end-of-year festivities, to call attention to the environmental impact of all that excess. Six different themes are addressed and solutions offered to reducing your ecological footprint. Rekindle the spirit of the Holidays in peace and simplicity: it would be a great gift to the planet!” December 2,3,4 “The sixth annual Recycling Artists Eco Fair will bring together 50 exhibitors who share the same artistic and environmental vision. A unique opportunity to find original gifts made from recovered materials! Free admission to the Eco Fair as well as to the O.N.E | Outfits from a New Era exhibition.”
November 19-20 & 26-27 as well as December 10-11 & 17-18 “You have gifts to wrap? No need to worry, the Biosphere offers the Eco-Wrapping Workshops. In the spirit of upcycled art, everyone is invited to participate and create surprising gift boxes. Made with carton boxes, a dash of time and a wide range of ideas, take these original gift wraps back home! All material is provided by the Biosphere.”
November 21 – December 23 “Experience a green and creative holiday outing! Your group is invited to participate in a new activity at the Biosphere, created to offer inspiration when planning your own celebrations. An experience that will certainly bring out the artist in you! On the program: a walk down memory lane, the American pavilion at Expo’67; tour of the O.N.E. | Outfits for a New Era exhibition; group discussions and do-it-yourself gift wrapping demonstrations.” Reservations: 514-496-8282 ou 1-866-487-8282
