Sea Dunes, a name that has always been known for developing practical solutions for boating, sailing and nautical leisure, is all set to contribute in preserving and sustaining the environment. The UAE-based boat company has developed a boat concept that provides an eco-friendly solution. Keeping in mind the fact that boating and yachting are major contributors to petrol consumption and pollution in the waters, Sea Dunes collaborated with George Feliot, a French scientist who was one of the pioneers and top scientist of the European Space Agency program. This new battery-powered boat will be unveiled at the Dubai International Boat Show 2010. The result of the collaboration was a boat concept that has a battery-powered engine capable of delivering the same horsepower as many petrol-powered boats. But unlike the conventional boat engines, this one weighs less and has practically zero-wastage and maintenance. This new engine known as the “e-motor” will be manufactured in France, while the complete boat will go into production in the UAE. The new boat concept boasts cost-efficiency in procurement and maintenance. The targeted institutional clients for the new concept are waterfront hotels and resorts. The new boat will also contribute in water-based transport initiatives in the UAE and the rest of the Middle East and wider African region.
