Here comes a partial solution to the congestion and the ever-rising level of public transport on Auckland roads. The light rail system named Slim Ride will be a driverless, electric-powered mode of transportation for the city. Conceived by the industrial designer Oliver Neuland from the Massey University’s Auckland School of Design, the rail design embraces compact rail cabins with automated doors for up to 15 passengers each. Well, that’s so very indicative of London’s Docklands Light Rail. As 3News puts it:
A number of loop tracks will connect the system to the existing transport networks. Sure to attract tourists, the concept-rail system will employ Maori art to give it an aesthetic appeal. Moreover, the concept could be applied to any city easily. However, before that, the designer needs to raise $100,000 to build a prototype in Albany.
