Catering to the need of moveable housing, a Brazilian architect Felipe Campolina has come up with a design that takes care of both environmental as well as social issues. The ‘portable housing’ is a futuristic skyscraper design that brings hundred of mobile units into use. Each living unit start from a modular system scaled from the standard OSB plate. The mobile units consist of a steel frame structure, vertical walls and floor in OSB with thermo-acoustic insulation. It also includes features like glass-tempered windows, green roof and walls and a water recycling system.
Each floor of the tower can accommodate six mobile units that can be transferred in and out independently. The housing units are carried from the ground floor to any desired floor using the elevator to the left of the skyscraper, while the inhabitants use the one to the right. The modular design of the structure lets it expand both horizontally and vertically, making it ideal for very dense urban centers where space is limited. With this ingenious design, Campolina managed to make it into Evolo magazine’s skyscraper competition this year.
